A plastic recycling guide for MRFs
Aylesbury Granulation work with a selection of businesses with their plastic recycling from MRFs(Materials Recovery Facility). Particularly who wish to go a step further in order to maximize their revenue whilst simultaneously becoming more “green”.
It is often the case that MRFs are able to “cherry pick” lines from the incoming feedstocks in order to generate the best rebate.
Depending upon the material, grade a quality, rebates can range from £95 to £190 per tonne on a delivered in basis. Materials (a non-exhaustive list is below) must be single stream and uncontaminated.
What materials do we accept?
We take a wide range of post-industrial rigid plastics (the recycling number is in the bracket), which include PP (5), HDPE (2), PS (6), ABS (7), Nylon (7), polycarbonate (7), PCABS (7), PET (1) and LDPE (4).
We have a one tonne minimum per grade.
This list is far from exhaustive, but some on-going decent volume materials that might be recyclable with Aylesbury Granulation include:
- End of life wheelie bins (all metal (including lifting pins, locks, rivets, etc) must be removed apart from wheels on the bottom of each stack. They should also be empty)
- If you take waste from manufacturers, you may have decent volumes of:
o Buckets
o Pallets
o Crates
o Trays
o Mushroom crate
o Plastic manufacturers waste, including sprues, redundant stock, run up waste, lump. - PE80 or PE100 utility pipe, pre cut (please ask for more details)
- We also accept end-of-life diesel tanks, but this is subject to the waste being hazardous free, metal removed and pre-cut to specification. For this we offer a free drop. Please contact Susan for more details.
We can accept more than one polymer on a wagon, so long as it is segregated and clearly marked.
What materials do we not accept?
• We cannot take films or cardboard.
• We cannot take mixed rigids.
• We do not accept post-consumer waste
• We do not take contaminated plastics
• Polymers have to be single stream, rather than a PP blend or a PE blend
Plastic Recycling from MRFs
At Aylesbury Granulation we would be happy to help you with your plastic recycling, subject to the criteria above. Whilst we are based near Aylesbury in Bucks, we offer a nationwide service. Once we have processed your plastics, we are left with a finished product, which is a 12mm regrind which can be used directly into new plastic manufacturing.
