Aylesbury Granulation are experts at helping businesses with the recycling of their redundant plastic stock. We generally help to recycle products that are no longer required or packaging that is no longer needed, most often because of changes is either design, consumer preference or marketing objectives.
What can be recycled?
In principle all plastic packaging can be recycled. Plastic products and plastic packaging that we can help with include
- PP (polypropylene),
- PE (polyethylene),
- PS (polystyrene),
- PET (polyethylene terephthalate),
- PC (polycarbonate) and
- ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene).
For example, redundant plastic stock could include PP lids, HDPE pots, PET trays, PP tubs PET bottles, PS lids or even IML (in-mould label) PP pots.
How does it work?
Waste is delivered in to us, normally in its original outer packaging, for example cartons, layer cards or stillages. We decant all of the stock (there may be a charge dependant upon complexity), The plastic is then fed it into the granulator to produce a 12mm flake. This end product is then used back to manufacture more plastic products.
Is there a cost to Recycling Redundant Plastic Stock?
No, there is no cost to recycling redundant plastic stock. We only accept 100% recyclable materials (this means segregated and contaminate free), and for these we pay a rebate. Rebates vary by plastic type and outer packaging. Our rebate rates are based on a “delivered in” basis, but we can arrange collection if needed. Under these circumstances, we will work with our preferred haulier to get you the best rate, for transport, which we then just deduct from any rebate due.
What do we need from you?
We will need to see pictures of the redundant plastic stock that is ready for recycling. Please send photos of both close up of the item itself and then including the outer packaging. This is so we can assess both the polymer type and the complexity of the labour needed to decant the redundant plastic stock.
We will also need a full list of the volumes to be recycled (please bear in mind that there is a 1 tonne minimum per grade). It is important that we know what plastic the product is made from. You will normally be able to find this embossed on the product, but it is sometimes printed onto the outer carton.
